While rum running was a quick fix for the 'get rich quick' types, the real industry on the waters of Norfolk came from its freshwater inhabitants.

The fishing industry began slowly in 1920's in Port Dover, but by the time the 1950's rolled around Lake Erie was considered the largest freshwater fishery in all the world.
