The steamer Atlantic was known to sometimes carry as many as 600 passengers. Those who boarded the Atlantic on August 25th 1852 carried with them the tools, supplies and even the vehicles that would be needed for their new lives on the prairies.

All these possessions would soon rest deep in the waters off Long Point, along with over 160 unfortunate souls.
