Ruthven Park is a 1600 acre estate located along the banks of the Grand River, and was home of five generations of the Thompson family from 1845-1993. David Thompson the first built Ruthven as a symbol of his prosperity. He was a promoter of the Grand River Navigation Company and was responsible for laying out the town of Indiana, which is now a Ghost town. Ruthven is Haldimand's only National Historic site, and is a location visitors to Haldimand wont want to miss.
