Following the Rebellions of 1837 farmers found themselves able to refocus on their livelihood. Brant County offered no shortage of opportunity.

The use of gypsum on the fields was emblematic of the beginning of agricultural technology. It was the beginning of what would turn Brant County and Brantford into one of the largest industrial centers in the Country.
